Formula

Pages per session = Total pages / (Available study days * Study sessions per day)

Direct answer

Divide the total pages by the study days and sessions you actually plan to complete. The result is a transparent workload target, not a claim that every page takes the same effort. UNC’s Learning Center describes studying as an active process; adjust the inputs if the material needs more review or practice.

Variables and formula

  • Total pages: all pages in the selected workload.
  • Available study days: days allocated to this plan.
  • Study sessions per day: focused sessions planned on each day.

Pages per session = Total pages / (Available study days * Study sessions per day)

Reproducible example

For 240 pages, 12 study days and two sessions daily, 240 / (12 * 2) = 10 pages per session. That is 20 pages per day across 24 sessions.

Interpretation

Use the session target as a starting point. If one chapter has problem sets or dense material, schedule fewer pages for that session instead of treating the average as a promise.

  • Counting calendar days when only some days are available to study.
