Product pounds = Area in sq ft ÷ 1,000 × Label rate in pounds per 1,000 sq ftDirect answer
Divide the measured area in square feet by 1,000 and multiply by the product amount printed for 1,000 square feet. Penn State Extension illustrates applications stated per 1,000 square feet and directs users to the product label for the selected rate; this calculator only scales that rate.
Variables and formula
- Area to cover: measured application area in square feet.
- Label application rate: pounds of the chosen product stated for 1,000 square feet.
Product pounds = Area in sq ft ÷ 1,000 × Label rate in lb per 1,000 sq ft
Reproducible example
For 2,500 sq ft and a label rate of 4 lb per 1,000 sq ft, 2,500 ÷ 1,000 × 4 = 10 lb, or about 4.54 kg of product.
Interpretation
The number is the product quantity for the exact label rate you entered. It does not recommend a nutrient rate, product, timing or spreader setting.
