Multiply the measured activity by an emissions factor expressed in kilograms of CO2e per matching activity unit. EPA’s equivalencies tool also converts energy data using emissions factors and warns that estimates can vary by context; this calculator requires the relevant factor to be supplied explicitly.

Reproducible example
For 100 units of activity and a factor of 0.25 kg CO2e per unit, the estimate is 100 x 0.25 = 25 kg CO2e, or 0.025 metric tonnes.

The result is only as applicable as the factor. Keep its source, unit, location, fuel or energy mix and reporting period alongside the estimate.
