  • This family converts non-negative cyclic or rotational frequency magnitudes; it does not infer phase, wavelength, or measurement uncertainty.
  • Revolutions per minute is treated as rotational frequency, so one revolution is one cycle and 1 rpm = 1/60 Hz. It is not angular frequency or angular velocity in radians per second.
  • The spellings rpm and rev/min are common conventions; NIST identifies r/min as the unit designation for rotational frequency, while BIPM notes that revolution and rev are not SI units.
  • A conversion does not add significant figures to the source measurement.
