Formula
CPC = Campaign cost ÷ ClicksWhat average CPC shows
Divide total campaign cost by valid clicks. A campaign costing $1,250 and recording 2,500 clicks has an average CPC of $0.50.
Average CPC may differ from the price of any individual click because auctions, audiences, devices and placements vary.
Cost is only one side
Cheaper clicks are not automatically better. A higher CPC can still produce a lower customer acquisition cost when traffic converts at a stronger rate or creates higher-value customers.
Assumptions
- Clicks and cost cover the same campaign scope.
